Every pencil tells a story — especially for a girl determined to learn.
As World Children’s Day 2025 approaches, our teams in Tennessee and Sierra Leone are working together to prepare the 100,000 pencils and 10,000 sharpeners to be distributed to students across 20 schools in Sierra Leone. These simple tools will soon be in the hands of students who are eager to learn, lead, and write their own futures.
From staff in the U.S. carefully sealing boxes, to our dedicated staff and volunteers in Sierra Leone sorting supplies and planning school distributions, this effort represents the power of community and shared purpose. And none of it would be possible without donors like YOU.
A pencil is more than a learning material —
it is confidence,
it is opportunity,
it is a step toward equality.
As Sylvester Renner, President of Develop Africa, reminds us, “It’s not just about pencils. It’s about purpose.”
Together, we are placing the tools of learning directly into the hands of girls who need them most — ensuring they stay in school, thrive academically, and continue building brighter futures for themselves and their communities.
Thank you for standing with these girls and fueling their dreams.
With heartfelt thanks,
Amy & the Develop Africa Team
