Thanks in large part to your generosity, girls in Sierra Leone like Yealie are receiving the support they need to stay in school, pursue their dreams, and build brighter futures.
Recently, Yealie visited the Develop Africa office in Sierra Leone, where she met with Joseph, our Sierra Leone Team Manager, to receive her monthly transportation and lunch stipend. These stipends help remove two of the everyday barriers that often make it difficult for students to attend school consistently.
In this video, Joseph introduces us to Yealie and shares a glimpse of her educational journey.
Yealie has just completed her first year of senior secondary school in the Science Department at National Pentecostal Secondary School. When Joseph asked about her future, she answered without hesitation:
"I want to become a medical doctor, a surgeon."
Her confidence and determination are truly inspiring. Because of the support she receives, Yealie can focus on her education and continue working toward a career where she hopes to improve the health and lives of others in her community.
