All schools switched to long-distance learning

Turkish Presidential Spokesman Ibrahim Kaln announced that elementary and secondary schools in Turkey will go on an early spring break for a week on March 16, while universities will be closed for three weeks to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
“Starting March 23, all students will receive online education through the internet and TV,” Kaln said, adding that the education minister will announce further details on the distance learning program for elementary and high school students.
Universities will be suspended as of March 16 for three weeks and will also use the distance learning program, Kaln said.
We have ceased all live trainings in Turkey at this time. We are monitoring if truly all girls are getting access to this long-distance learning and in what ways we can support and supplement government initiatives, while following best health and safety practices.
In the meanwhile, please continue to support this great cause and this project which will continue as soon as safety permits.

End the year by Educating a Girl

Thank you all for educating girls.
To date, with the support of all 47 donors including you, we have raised $4770 on GlobalGiving. Each and every girl who gets a chance through this programme needs a helping hand and cannot thank enough donors like you.
No matter how modern Turkey may seem, there are many areas where girls are discouraged. Cultures at times conflict and all too often this wonderful country is a place where girls are not allowed to soar.
Education helps bring about not just opportunity but clarity. An understanding of what one can do with one's life.
So, as 2019 ends. Why not end the year on the magical note of transforming another life. Educate a girl or two today. And, if you can't right now then please donate $10 or if you can $100. If each of the 47 donors donated $100, we would raise $4700, which would more than double our funds to date and help us educate 30 more girls!!! That's thirty lives changing, just by donating $100 today. Yes, you can make a difference!

So close to our goal!

Thank you all for educating girls.
We are close to our goal of $3500 so very excited and hopeful.
We recently held a focus group of Turkish girls aged 14-17 and asked them about the biggest barriers they felt to success. They spoke of class distinctions and urban-rural differences. We were amazed how acutely they saw these are barriers to opportunities.
As we dug deeper we found that opportunties were everywhere but that in certain areas of Turkey, girls were less encouraged to seize those opportunities and certainly not encouraged to work hard for them. Motivational training and opening their hearts and minds to unlimited dreams and possibiities has emerged as a major important area we are including in our training.
Every girl deserves a change to not only succeed but to be told she has the right to want to soar. Thank you for being part of this.
