Mexico Graduate Rosa Impresses In Trip To The U.S.

By Paul Montgomery | Director of Marketing, PR and Content Management

Rosa M. had never been to the United States. A graduate of Christel House Mexico, she was invited to travel to Indianapolis to share her experiences at Christel House with associates at Eli Lilly and Company. Rosa’s story of growing up in a house without electricity or running water and her subsequent success despite many obstacles made an impression on her audience. She considers herself fortunate to have started at Christel House Mexico in first grade. “I grew up at Christel House surrounded by teachers who cared about me and my education,” Rosa said. “I believe it was the most important time of my life. If I hadn’t graduated from Christel House, I probably would not have enrolled in high school.” In Mexico, students take a test to enroll in high school. Rosa’s high school test scores were amazing - she ranked number 25 out of 250,000 students taking the test in Mexico City!

Rosa is now studying to become an OB/GYN, a dream that was inspired by a doctor’s story of helping others when he visited Christel House while she was in seventh grade.

Rosa concluded by thanking the associates at Lilly for their support of Christel House. “I’m so grateful to Christel House and to all of you for being the “angels” that gave me the opportunity to have a better quality of life. I will do my best to achieve my goals and become a contributing member of society by helping people around me.”
