Students clean as a community service project.
In a season of giving, Christel House kids give back to a local neighborhood. "It's in projects like these that our students not only serve their community but also learn valuable experiences,” says Maya Abhimanyu, Christel House India’s Head of Academics. Grade 11 students transformed a neighborhood eyesore into a work of art. "They have made a lasting impact." The community area was a dumping ground for trash. Students decided to do something about it. Working with BBMP Solid Waste Management, students removed ten loads of debris from the site! The students did not stop at clearing the waste. They brought paint brushes, and gallons of colorful paint and created beautiful murals on the now clean walls. Neighbors expressed thanks for the hard work of the Christel House India students. "We are very happy to be part of the cleaning drive," says Rakshitha, one of the students. "Now the place has been transformed into a selfie point,: she says proudly.

Before graduating from Christel House India – Bangalore in 2019, Bindushree had faced numerous challenges growing up. Losing her father to cancer in her senior year of high school was not only emotionally devastating, but it also put financial burdens on her and her family. She took on additional responsibilities while pursuing her college dreams.
Bindushree, a strong student at school, took a job tutoring children after hours and in-between her college courses. It wasn’t easy providing support for her family and studying for college, but she was determined. With perseverance, Bindushree completed her education and received a Commerce degree from Kristu Jayanti College in Bangalore. Graduating from the university, her career launched with a series of opportunities at one of the world’s largest professional service firms – Grant Thornton. “My journey with Grant Thornton began with a mentorship program, then an internship,” she says. “Now I am a proud employee at Grant Thornton!" Bindushree is a tax analyst with the company and feels she was well prepared to join the world of work. She credits her teachers at Christel House India and the invaluable guidance and support she received from the school’s College & Careers program for her success. Her journey validates the transformative impact of a strong education and necessary supports to succeed.
