The opportunity for Halla, a 10th grader, and Cailee, a first grader, to meet at Christel House Indianapolis can be very beneficial for both. For Halla, it's a chance to mentor and inspire a younger student. For Cailee, interacting with an older student like Halla can spark an enthusiasm for learning, as well as provide a positive role model to look up to.
The two met through a cheerleading camp early in the school year where Halla taught first-graders a cheer. They performed together during halftime at one of the school's football games. They see each other in the hallways and at events and stay in touch. Cailee says she has two things she wants to do when she grows up. "I want to be a cheerleader and I want to be a doctor." Halla asks her what she would do if she were a doctor. "I will make people feel better." Halla, a member of the school's JROTC, enjoys all her classes. She tells Cailee that high school is good especially, the relationship between students and teachers.
