Over 30 Christel House Academy students representing grades 3 through 8 traveled to the Indiana Statehouse to celebrate the start of computer science education week in Indiana. The event, sponsored by Nextech, focused on an "Hour of Code," giving the kids the opportunity to learn about coding and get interested in careers in computer technology.
The kids joined students from several other area schools. The mission - to give children a taste of a possible career path as high tech, computer postitions will be in demand when these children graduate. The kids use computer tablets to play games that simulate the process that computer programmers go through to develop software.
The event was presented in the Indiana statehouse where the public could also view the "hour of code."
