Project Report

By Ijeoma Ezeagwula | Director of Programs and Community Engagement

This season has been one of growth, adaptation, and deepened impact as CCI continues to serve children and youth in our adopted indigent Community. In response to staffing challenges caused by the expansion of our mobile library program to 18 local schools, we successfully launched the Classroom Library Loan Initiative—a solution that sustains weekly access to books for thousands of students. Simultaneously, our Undergraduate Scholarship Program has gained significant momentum, supporting scholars with tuition, mentorship, and practical tools for career readiness.

Mobile Library Initiative

Challenge:
With the rapid growth of our outreach, the mobile library program encountered a staffing challenge, making it difficult to maintain consistent book circulation across all schools.

Solution – Classroom Library Loan Initiative:
In response, we introduced the Classroom Library Loan Initiative, a decentralized model that provides each supported school with a rotating mini-library. These classroom libraries are refreshed regularly, ensuring that students continue to engage with diverse, age-appropriate books every week.

Impact Highlights:

  • 18 schools actively participating
  • Over 4,500 books circulated through classroom libraries
  • Weekly access to books sustained despite staffing constraints
  • Noticeable increase in student engagement with reading

Undergraduate Scholarship Program

Our scholarship program has evolved into a robust support system, currently serving ten undergraduate students across tertiary institutions in Nigeria. In addition to covering tuition and fees, we are committed to our scholars’ personal and professional development.

Key Developments:

  • Expanded Mentorship: Scholars are paired with mentors who offer academic, personal, and career guidance.
  • Career Readiness: Resume writing workshops, job search sessions, and interview prep are equipping students for success after graduation.
  • Resource Provision: Students have access to study tools, development materials, and ongoing support.
  • Launched the “Adopt-a-Student” initiative: Creating an opportunity for donors to provide scholarships specific students.

Impact Highlights:

  • 10 scholars currently enrolled in Nigerian universities
  • 6 new mentors onboarded this period
  • 2 resume and career workshops conducted
  • 100% of recipients reported positive academic progress

Next Steps

To build on these achievements and continue delivering meaningful impact, we plan to:

  • Recruit and train additional staff and volunteers for the mobile library program
  • Enrich the Classroom Library Loan Initiative with book clubs and reading logs
  • Launch a scholarship alumni network to promote peer mentoring
  • Establish new partnerships to enhance career development resources

Conclusion

We are proud of the progress made in expanding access to education and empowering young people through books, mentorship, and opportunity. These successes would not be possible without the unwavering support of our donors, partners, and volunteers.
To our incredible donors, thank you for believing in our mission. Your generosity continues to change lives and create brighter futures for the children and youth we serve. We look forward to all that we will accomplish together in the months ahead.
