Even when working on our education programs, we recognize one of the biggest obstacles to education is food insecurity. Malnutrition affects nearly 32% of children under five in Tanzania, leading to stunted growth, weakened immune systems, and difficulty concentrating in class. When children arrive at school hungry, their ability to focus, retain information, and perform academically is significantly impacted. Many students drop out, not because they lack the desire to learn, but because they lack the energy to do so.
That’s why we work to ensure that our students have consistent access to nutritious meals alongside their education. By providing school meals and supporting families with food assistance, we help break the cycle of poverty, allowing children to thrive in school and beyond. We're featuring the recently planted corn as a highlight of our food security program that is the foundation of our educational work at Amani too. Thank you for standing with us as we create opportunities for these bright young minds!
