That's a wrap! Because of you, we have our first graduates from the Farmers of the Future program for 2021.
Farmers of the Future is a small business and entrepreneurship training program in the Greater Kruger Area of South Africa, focused on agro-ecology, and how to develop a small business through farming. The training runs for 18 months with weekly lessons and is divided into three phases plus an indefinite mentorship.
South Africa suffers from some of the worst unemployment and wealth gap issues in the world, especially in rural communities. A lack of small business enterprises and training has been associated with the severe lack of unemployed young people.
Last year the participants started their training with the principles of agroecology. Last month they finished the business management phase, and last week they applied for kickstart loans to start a business. A Chilli Sauce business, a market access business, an organic compost supplier, and one hydroponics business.
Farmers of the Future helps unemployed youth take meaningful steps out of poverty. Fund a future by contributing to a kickstart loan: donate here!
