Your ongoing generosity to provide pathways out of poverty knows no bounds! But honing in on education, your support has provided a platform for children in Zambia to escape the cycle of poverty. Remaining in education and achieving qualifications enables the young people of Zambia to obtain jobs providing both higher and more reliable income.
In 2022, the average hourly wage for students who had only completed grade 7 was ZMK16, the equivalent to just $0.60 USD. With the attainment of a diploma this more than triples to ZMK54 ($2) and increases by more than 6 times to ZMK97 ($3.60) with a Bachelor's degree1.
Your donation supports children through their primary, secondary and tertiary education and empowers them to pursue and achieve a better future for themselves. Without your support, these children would remain in poverty.
Despite enabling higher income, education beyond grade 12 is still uncommon with only 11.4% of the employed population attaining qualifications higher than grade 121. Your support enables students to continue to tertiary education. While some choose to attend university courses, such as the 6 new Sponsor a Future learners that enrolled at the start of 2024, others attend skills based courses at college.
One Sponsor a Future beneficiary, Francis, is determined that despite his background he can achieve his goals and improve his circumstances. Your donations have enabled him to enrol in a nursing course at college, thus opening up his future and allowing him to pursue a career with reliable income.
Before receiving sponsorship for books, uniforms and fees, Francis was unsure how his future looked, with few opportunities for him to create a life for himself,
“I don’t think I would have managed without the support from African Impact Foundation. I thought my future was done.”
Now, with your donations, Francis is in his second year, has a bright future as a nurse ahead of him and hopes with these skills he can help others in the community.
With your generosity, more children like Francis can achieve their goals, improve their futures and break out of poverty. Thank you for your ongoing support!
