Dear Supporter,
At the African Impact Foundation, we are passionate about working hand in hand with youth and the community. Our main goal is to provide young people with pathways out of poverty and because of donors like you, we are able to run programs with the focus on: Education, Wellness, Livelihoods and Gender Equality.
Today, we want to share some exciting updates from our Youth Insaka program with you.
The Youth Insaka program aims to break the cycle of poverty by empowering learners to make educated decisions and remain in education. Youth Insaka provides a space where they can share their experiences, discuss solutions to barriers they may face and aspire for a better future for themselves. Facilitated by near-peer mentors and ambassadors, Youth Insaka educates learners on essential topics across four pillars: Gender Equality, Wellness, Livelihoods and Education. These diverse topics equip them with information to make informed decisions about their futures and overcome challenges they may face.
During the first two quarters of this year, we have:
- Educated 6 new groups of Youth Insaka learners
- Impacted a total of 408 new learners
- Spend 120 hours learning about varios topics
“Youth Insaka imparts knowledge on the pupils that will change their lives. We open their minds and help them to develop skills they can use to better their futures.“
Tracey, Youth Insaka Facilitator
In addition to our weekly programs, we also ran a Menstrual Hygene Workshop.
We facilitated menstrual hygiene workshops with two groups of Youth Insaka participants, 80 girls who participate in Youth Insaka sessions attended a two-day workshop where they learnt about the phases of their menstrual cycle, how to track them as well as how to maintain good period hygiene.
The participants all received a reusable mestrual hygiene kit which included 3 reusable pads, 2 pairs of underwear and soap. This will not only enable the girls to maintain a high standard of wellbeing but also alleviates the barriers to accessing education whilst on their periods and enables them to aspire for a better future.
“African impact Foundation are really doing great work in the lives of young people in our school. This is clearly seen in the academic performance of our learners, most of those who are in Youth Insaka are performing extremely well both academically and behavioral wise”
Mrs. Halukulety, Career Guindance and Councellor Teacher at Ngwenya Primary School
Because of donors like you, we are able to keep achieving incredible things, together with our community in Zambia!
Thank you so much for all your support!
