Dear Nyaka friends and family,

It’s a joy to report to you fresh from Uganda! Last month I spent time on the ground connecting with our grannies and students! Day after day, I was humbled by all the work YOU make possible.

Along with YOUR support, Nyaka has also been fortunate enough to team up with 50 cents.Period. They are an organization dedicated to the reproductive health of women and girls, and have been researching and developing better methods for Nyaka.

In Uganda, several communities follow the cultural tradition whereby the eldest paternal aunt or relative is made responsible for educating the young girls in the family. Due to the HIV/AIDS pandemic, an entire generation of aunties is missing, leaving a huge cultural and informational gap.

50 cents.Period. set up workshops for our grannies and girls to attend.

Attendance at these on-going workshops is averaging 25 women per week!

Additionally, due to the field findings of 50 cents.Period., we began applying the cost of sanitary pads and underwear to our student sponsorship program. This has relieved over 170 grannies of a huge expense and empowered our students to attend classes and learn with greater confidence!

YOU, dear donors, have been instrumental in this process! And that's important! Period!

With YOUR support, our grannies and are girls are leading informed and healthy lives.

YOUR generous support makes these kind of success stories happen each and every day!

And we thank YOU!

Consider giving a gift today and help us continue the work of empowering Nyaka’s grannies and girls!
