She is Ready to Learn Because of YOU!

YOU are making futures happen for girls in Uganda!

When Nyaka first opened its doors, we gathered all of the important things. We had pencils and paper, passionate teachers, textbooks, uniforms, everything we thought we would need.

Everything seemed to be going great until we realized that we were missing one essential ingredient: healthy food.

Many of our students are being cared for by their grandmothers who can offer love and shelter but cannot afford to feed all of their grandchildren. Some grandmothers are raising more than 12 grandchildren!

When families in Uganda are struggling to keep food on the table, girls are often the first ones pulled out of school to help at home. We need girls to stay in school so they can grow up to impact their communities.

Because of YOUR support, we were able to quickly to solve the problem. YOU started providing two meals for YOUR students every school day. YOU started Desire Farm to grow food and raise animals to keep our students fueled and ready to learn! YOU even provided gardening tools, seeds, and training for their grandmothers to ensure that they could keep their grandchildren fed without needing to take their granddaughters out of school.

Right now there are 463 primary students who are receiving two meals per day through the nutrition program YOU made possible. Now your students have beans, peas, groundnuts, meat, posho, vegetables, rice, matooke (green bananas), sweet potatoes and Irish potatoes to keep them healthy and full of precious energy!

If that wasn't enough, YOUR students now have 200 chickens to provide eggs!

YOU make all of this possible.

Thank YOU!
