Project Report | Apr 10, 2015
Winter gets to read as much as she wants because of YOU!

YOU are helping girls in Uganda defy the odds and achieve their dreams!

Girls like senior six student, Winter.

Winter's parents both died when she was ten years old, leaving her and five other siblings to live with their grandmother. As much as their grandmother wanted to support all of them, it almost seemed impossible considering the lack of money and poverty they were in.

They had to rely on the support of Winter's uncle. Under his care, she was continuously abused. He didn't want her to get an education and, if Winter tried to read books, he threatened to hurt her grandmother. Winter felt scared and alone.

Then her grandmother joined one of YOUR 92 Granny Groups. There she learned about a free school for HIV/AIDS orphans like Winter. She rushed to register her granddaughter.

Winter's future changed dramatically because of YOU!

Winter was able to go to school, read all the books she wanted, and with the other supports she and her grandmother were able to get, they no longer had to rely on Winter's abusive uncle.

This is the message Winter asked us to share with you:

“I thank you, may God bless you and give you an everlasting life.”

This year, YOU brought Winter a step forward into a successful life. YOU have given her the tools to get to university and now it's up to her to use this amazing gift to help orphans and girls in her country.

On behalf of all of your girls in Uganda, THANK YOU!

More girls need like Winter need YOUR help!

Right now a little girl in southwest Uganda is dreaming of going to school and YOU can send her!
