Your girls are back in school after their term break and excited to start the second term of the 2016 school year! During the break there were many activities that went on at NVSS, specifically for the Secondary female students. Several speakers, who are role models in the community, were invited to speak with the girls about the importance of staying in school, setting goals, and sex education. There was also a career guidance workshop at the Blue Lupin Library to discuss the various career opportunities that are available after graduation.
Counseling sessions were held as well to discuss the importance of having an education and graduating from school. Some of the girls need extra encouragement to stay in school and concentrate on their studies because they feel torn between attending school versus being home to help their families. When these girls are in Primary school they go home every day and can help out in the evening and weekends. Now as Secondary students, they live in a dorm and are at school for three months at a time. They aren’t home every day to help with chores such as cooking, cleaning, fetching water, and helping take care of younger siblings. However, THANKS TO YOU, more one-on-one time can be spent with these girls to provide guidance to them about the importance of staying in school!
