The 2017 school year began on February 6th and the students have been working hard to make this a great year. There are 765 total students this year from nursery through university! Of these, 53% of the students are girls! Yes, that means over half of the student body at Nyaka are female. Thank you for giving these girls the opportunity to go to school and giving them hope for bright and successful futures. We also welcomed 28 new girls in the nursery classes this year in Nyaka Primary School and Kutamba Primary School. These young girls are smart, tough, and ready to take on their futures.
Could you imagine if girls with this much potential weren’t able to go to school? For instance, Primah is an amazing and smart young lady. She is 14 years old and in her second year at Nyaka Vocational Secondary School (NVSS). Primah is very thankful for the opportunity she has to be in school. She is Treasurer of the Scripture Club and enjoys reading. Her favorite subject in school in Physics because she enjoys working on calculations. Primah wouldn’t be in school at all if it wasn’t for the support she receives from you.
Thank you for giving these girls the chance to end the cycle of poverty they were born into and for helping to close the gender disparity gap in Uganda!
