Empowering Dreams:Progress Report on Our Scholars

By Nisha Dubey | Project Leader

Dear Global Givers,

We are pleased to share the latest report on the progress of our scholars. Your generous and unwavering support continues to bring these young girls closer to their dreams.

On behalf of our entire team and the scholars, we extend our heartfelt gratitude. Your contributions have empowered these girls to pursue their education, chase their ambitions, and break free from oppressive traditions of intergenerational sex work. Because of your kindness, they are building brighter futures for themselves and their communities.

Inspiring Progress and Achievements

Many of our scholars are overcoming societal and familial pressures, engaging in education, and excelling in extracurricular activities. Several are preparing for competitive exams or making strides in sports, aspiring to become police officers, judo players, or singers. Others, despite immense pressure to follow exploitative paths, are prioritising education and personal growth, often becoming the first in their families to do so.

Thanks to your scholarship support, these girls are gaining access to valuable learning resources, mentorship, and skill-building opportunities. Their gratitude for your support is immense.

Progress of Boarding Scholars

The 23 scholars enrolled in residential boarding schools are writing new chapters in their lives. A few have successfully completed their graduation and post-graduation and are now preparing for jobs or pursuing higher education. Scholars still in their graduation phase are actively applying for internships. Notably, one scholar pursuing law has applied for an internship at the district court.

The most remarkable achievement is that these girls are no longer bound by traditional expectations. They are rejecting the notion that marriage or intergenerational sex work is their only path. Instead, they are boldly pursuing their ambitions and carving out independent futures.

Mentorship for Empowerment

Recognizing the importance of career guidance, iPartner India introduced personalized career counselling for our Educate Her Empower Her (EHEH) scholars. A pilot initiative was launched with 10 scholars, beginning with individual online sessions where counsellors explored their career goals and pathways to achieve them. The second phase will involve offline, face-to-face interactions for more personalized guidance. This initiative will soon expand to include all EHEH scholars.

Case Study: Namita*

Namita* (name changed) is a dedicated scholar from a village in Rajasthan. Currently in the 12th standard with Physical Education as her main subject, Namita dedicates much of her time to practicing activities such as horse riding, kabaddi, and racing.

Her passion extends beyond sports. Namita participated in a fashion design workshop where she learned to create designer clothes from waste materials. Her team's efforts earned them recognition and certification from their university. She has also enrolled in English classes organized by iPartner India to improve her communication skills.

Namita is immensely grateful for the support you have provided, which has enabled her to nurture her talents and expand her horizons.

Case Study: Shivani*

Shivani* (name changed) is a 18-year-old scholar from a village in Rajasthan. Shivani faced multiple hardships after losing her father in a road accident and later losing her grandmother, her primary caretaker. With limited family support, her aunt, a sex worker in Mumbai, has been funding her and her brother's expenses.

Growing up in a community where intergenerational sex work is common, Shivani was at high risk of being forced into this exploitative cycle. However, with iPartner India's intervention, Shivani was successfully enrolled in a residential boarding university. Now in her second year of undergraduate studies, Shivani dreams of becoming a teacher and empowering young girls in her community to resist intergenerational exploitation.

Shivani actively participates in mentorship sessions and English classes and is excelling academically. She deeply values the opportunity to pursue her education, thanks to your support.

Way Forward

With your continued support, iPartner India has identified 10 additional girls from similar vulnerable backgrounds who are at risk of being forced into exploitative professions. These girls will soon be enrolled in residential boarding schools or universities to protect them from trafficking and enable them to pursue their dreams with dignity.

Your contributions are changing lives, one scholar at a time. Thank you for standing with us in this journey. We look forward to your continued support as we strive for even greater impact.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Team iPartner India
