Orphaned children in Egypt face heightened risks of school dropout, child labor, and early marriage. Through the Not Alone Program, we aim to enroll 300 children and support them in breaking the cycle of poverty by providing access to quality education, characterbuilding workshops, and consistent mentorship.
When a family loses its father-the primary source of income-widowed mothers are often left without the means to meet even their children's most basic needs. The sudden drop in household income frequently disrupts children's education, forcing young boys into unsafe, lowpaid work and pushing girls toward early marriage to reduce financial strain. In the most desperate situations, mothers feel they have no choice but to place their children in orphanages simply to ensure their survival.
The Not Alone Program provides children who have lost their father with the stability, education, and personal support they need to thrive. Through trained volunteers, each child receives regular home visits, mentoring, and a tailored education plan that ensures their basic needs are met and that they stay in school. The program nurtures the whole child-academically, emotionally, and physically-helping them pursue their dreams.
The Not Alone Program has already lifted more than 100,000 fatherless children above the poverty line. Children in Not Alone are three times more likely to finish secondary school and many go on to win competitive university scholarships, including placements at top institutions such as the American University in Cairo and the British University. As they grow, these young people develop into well-rounded leaders who uplift their communities and break the cycle of poverty.
