The #BooksGiveRefuge initiative remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting children affected by humanitarian crises—particularly those with refugee experience and children residing in institutional care. Our core mission is to empower these young people through literature, utilizing books as essential tools for integration, therapy, and building a crucial sense of security.
A key priority is ensuring that children have access to books in the languages they know. While Ukrainian is paramount, we also provide resources in Polish and English. By doing so, we help preserve educational and cultural continuity and actively support their adaptation process in a new environment.
We continue to receive requests for support from numerous facilities, including educational institutions, public libraries, community support Centresand cultural centres. Each of these places represents a vital space where books can become a daily element of support—addressing both emotional and linguistic needs.
Recently, we delivered further batches of books to locations where children need them most. These facilities offer crucial assistance to children far from home, often in unstable and stressful situations. Through literature, it becomes possible not only to build a connection with language and culture but also to alleviate the effects of trauma and create a space for calm development.
It is thanks to the unwavering support of our partners and donors that we can fulfill this vital mission. Every book, every piece of logistical support, and every conversation about the significance of reading in the context of displacement contributes to fostering a kinder and more empathetic society.
We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who stands with us. Because of your dedication, books reach places where they can truly change a life. We strongly encourage continued support for #BooksGiveRefuge — because real change requires time, perseverance and collective effort.
