Khoj School specialises in regenerative gardening, placing soil health and ecological balance at the centre of all its growing practices. Instead of relying on chemicals, we teach children how to work with nature’s own cycles to rebuild fertility, restore biodiversity, and regenerate the land. Our approach emphasises observation, care, and respect for the living world beneath our feet.
Through hands-on learning, students explore composting, mulching, seed saving, and the use of beneficial microbes to improve soil structure and plant health. Regenerative gardening also helps them learn key concepts in science and mathematics — from understanding plant biology and soil ecosystems to measuring growth rates, observing patterns, and analysing changes over time. This season, children sowed seeds of winter vegetables in November and learnt a great deal through the entire process, from preparing beds to monitoring germination.
Regenerative gardening at Khoj is not just a method—it is a philosophy of stewardship. By engaging children in meaningful outdoor work, we help them develop a lifelong connection to the land and a sense of responsibility for its wellbeing. Our aim is to cultivate future growers, thinkers, and leaders who understand that healing the soil is essential for food security, community strength, and a sustainable future.
