In many countries globally, the change in seasons brings with them a change in the number of hours of light each day. In the US, the time recently changed 1 hour because of Daylight Savings Time.
This change emphasizes and acknowledges the importance of light and the benefits of light.
We all can get more done when there is light or more light. Our lives are more productive and we are happier. Light enables and rejuvenates.
While our beneficiaries in Sierra Leone do not have to adjust to the seasonal changes in the number of daylight hours, the availability of light is also important to them.
Having light at night so that they can study makes a big difference.
Mohamed (pictured) was very happy to receive a solar light. His comment was as follows:
This solar light will help me to read at night and pass my exam.
This light will help him advance his education and career.
Together we helped to meet a need. We helped to remove a roadblock to his success.
This makes me want to do a happy dance.
