We have been meeting in Honduras for the past 10 days to discuss with our medical personell and contacts about the current project to educate our youth for the Future. Dr. Olga Manzanares and Dr. Lillian de Larios have been very helpful in identifying youth that can benefit from this program. Our goal is to seek out young people that would not have an opportunity without this project.
This is our first 3 months with global giving and we do not yet have the funds to complete the project. We concentrated on different candidates to do medical or dental internships this year and use the money raised thus far to provide the youth with funds for educational opportunities, transportation to the sites, provide medical equipment for youth to learn from a mentor. Also educational venues were discussed including pre-dental and pre-med programs that would aid them in meeting their goals. We have identified 4 people that would qualify for this project and are in the process of interviews and discussions with potential candidates.
Medical supplies that will be purchased for students include stethoscopes, sypygmomanometers, thermometers, interviewing tools, teaching guides and educational pamphlets for the poor.
Thank you for a great beginning,
gayle
