Fundacion Bomberos de Argentina, with volunteer firefighters from all over the country, develops the project "Todos en Alerta!" (Everyone on Alert). Its objective is to teach children how to prevent accidents in everyday scenarios such as at homes, at school and on the public road. This project will allow volunteer firefighters to visit schools and institutions to give talks and train children as promoters of good practices and contribute to the creation of an accident prevention network.
According to our statistics, 60% of the emergencies attended last year were for domestic fires, without taking into account assistance for domestic accidents, rescues or life-threatening situations. The data shows that there is a significant increase in accidents during weekends and months with the most emergencies are January, June, July and December, during the holidays.
This project will help by teaching the children how to spot dangerous behaviour or situations, how to prevent them and how to act when an emergency occurs. Volunteer firefighters are admired and respected throughout their communities, specially by children. This project gives them the opportunity to meet firefighters, learn about their job, and also learn with them how they can keep themselves, their family and friends safe.
In the long-term, our project will contribute to generate a safer society by creating an accident prevention and response network. By learning about risk prevention, children will collaborate in reducing domestic accidents, and will also spread safety habits and tips with their family and friends.
