This project accompanies the growth of children and adolescents to prevent them from living a marginalized childhood. Through sports, we keep them away from the danger of drugs, violence and abandonment. The program empowers its development in three fundamental areas: sports practice -as a tool for inclusion and adoption of social behaviors based on values-, health and nutrition -through medical studies, vaccination and treatment for endemic diseases- and education.
Our social action is located in the area of Gonzalez Catan, province of Buenos Aires. We have been working for more than 50 years in one of the poorest areas of the Buenos Aires suburbs. More than 60% of the population is below the poverty line and 35% of the children we serve have feeding problems. It is a difficult environment for the growth of children and their families who need not only direct assistance but an integral accompaniment to get out of poverty.
Our experience tells us that the best way to eradicate poverty is through the active monitoring of people in vulnerable situations. This implies the design of a program that works on the triggers of the shortcomings that individuals and their families have.
Of the 4000 children and adolescents that will benefit from this program, we estimate that one third of them will receive treatment for endemic diseases, especially Chagas disease. In addition, all participants will have their vaccination schedule up to date and will receive medical treatment for optimum health. Families with food shortages will receive adequate food. Children and adolescents, through sport, will receive the appropriate stimuli and will have an improvement of their cooperation a
