At our Nursery School, all our children come from families living below the poverty line, many facing severe social and economic challenges. Home visits are a vital part of our approach, allowing us to better understand the environments our children grow up in and tailor our support accordingly. From January to April Holiday, we visited several homes to listen, learn, and stand in solidarity with our families as. We thought it wise to share two brief stories.
One of the families we reached out to included a single mother who has been critically ill and hospitalized since September 2024. When her son stopped attending school in January, we contacted her and arranged for the child to stay with his cousin so he could continue his education while she receives treatment. Though still hospitalized, we regularly check in on her via phone, and the boy is now back in school and exceptionally well in his academics.
The second story is of James, a Pre-Primary One student with hearing and speech challenges, also raised by a single parent. When he joined us, he struggled to communicate, but with love and support through various visits to Kenyatta National Hospital, his confidence and abilities have grown remarkably. He now expresses himself better and is showing strong leadership potential, despite his mother's ongoing health issues and frequent clinic visits. we also keep tabs on the mother and try to assist where we can.
These stories are a testament to the impact your support makes. Through your contributions, we are able to provide not just education, but hope, dignity, and holistic care. Thank you for standing with us as we work together to break the cycle of poverty and create a brighter future for the children and families we serve.
