Hello Everyone,
I want to share an update with you on one of our girls, Gracie, who joined high school last year and is now in Form 2 (grade 10).
Gracie and her two older sisters came to live with us in 2012, at the request of their HIV-positive parents who were struggling to pay for the girl's school fees and were seeking our assistance with their educations.
She has been the most disciplined girl in her grade, always with a contagious smile on her face, performing above average in a school known as Njenga Karume.
I asked Gracie what she wants to become in the future and with a smile on her face she said, "I want to become a teacher." And I thought that would suit her well! She is happy because she can concentrate on her academics without any stress about what to eat in the morning, lunch, and evening, and because she is not being sent back home due to a lack of school fees. Gracie is seeing a bright future ahead because she has a great support system. She is happy because we all love her and the stigma related to HIV/AIDs is something of the past for her. Thank you so much for loving Gracie and providing her with a bright future.
Warmest regards,
Jennifer Hughes-Bystrom
