EDUCATION AND LEADERSHIP FOR GIRLS IN RURAL AREAS
Enseña por Bolivia is deeply committed to transforming education in the rural areas of the country, with a special focus on girls and young women who face significant barriers to accessing inclusive and quality education. One of the cornerstones of this mission is the training of professionals known as Agents of Change like Janneth Ambrocio a computer science teacher. She is helping girls in rural communities’ access innovative knowledge and opportunities in technology. Through her work, she not only teaches digital skills but also nurtures essential soft skills and fosters empowerment among all her students especially girls. Jeanette believes that when girls gain confidence and technological abilities, they can break barriers and open new paths for themselves and others. Her commitment is helping to ensure that more girls see a future for themselves in the world of technology, where their presence and leadership are still limited today.
JANNETH AMBROCIO
For Janneth, arriving in a community different from her own was a challenge that allowed her to grow personally and professionally. She brought topics such as gender equity, new masculinities, and environmental stewardship — subjects that were often unfamiliar to the community. Witnessing how these ideas sparked reflection and tangible change in people’s lives has become the driving force behind her passion for service. This contribution, far from being an individual effort, represents a meaningful step toward the transformation and improvement of entire communities.
One of the greatest challenges has been confronting deeply rooted stereotypes that have been passed down from generation to generation. Yet, the impact multiplies when more people join this meaningful cause, finding new ways to work together and uplift their own communities. Children play a vital role in this transformation, they not only act but also become powerful messengers, sharing what they learn with their families and inspiring lasting change from within.
CLIMATE SUMMIT
Thanks to the commitment of our Agents of Change (PEBs), students, and their families, inspiring initiatives have taken root in rural schools from the creation of school gardens that strengthen food security and promote sustainable practices, to the formation of student brigades that empower children to act in the face of climate change.
These spaces have become powerful learning environments where girls and boys explore how their daily choices can protect the planet. For many girls this has opened new opportunities to lead environmental projects, develop scientific curiosity, and see themselves as agents of change in their own communities.
THE IMPACT
In many rural communities, children and especially girls have limited access to climate education. The Climate Summit is changing this reality by providing spaces where students can learn, lead, and take action to protect their environment. Through hands-on projects such as school gardens and student climate brigades, they experience firsthand how collective effort can strengthen their community’s resilience.
Girls are at the heart of this transformation. They are taking on new leadership roles, guiding environmental campaigns, and inspiring peers and families to adopt sustainable practices. With every activity, the Summit plants the seeds of confidence, agency, and environmental responsibility shaping a new generation of rural leaders committed to building a more sustainable Bolivia.
In Santiago de Callapa, the Typing Tournament was successfully held at Romero Pampa School, bringing together 25 enthusiastic students, the school principal, teaching staff, and the sponsors of the awards. The event was organized and led by our dedicated Agent of Change, Professor Oscar Grover Plata Santander.
The tournament provided students with a fun and engaging opportunity to strengthen their typing and digital skills, while fostering healthy competition, teamwork, and confidence. For the girls in particular, this event offered a platform to build self-confidence, develop leadership skills, and challenge traditional gender roles in technology and digital learning. By actively participating and excelling in the tournament, these girls are gaining the encouragement and recognition they need to envision themselves as future leaders in their communities. These efforts go beyond raising awareness. They build hope, resilience, and shared responsibility for a sustainable future. Each achievement shows how, together with our partners and communities, we are transforming education and cultivating the next generation of climate leaders.
