In rural areas of Bolivia, approximately 60% of students complete secondary education. However, girls and women face additional barriers, such as limited access to educational resources, restrictive cultural practices, and domestic responsibilities. These difficulties widen the gender gap in education, with completion rates for girls and female adolescents that can be less than 50%.
All children are born with enormous potential, but millions lack the education, support, and opportunities they need to thrive. In Bolivia, girls in rural areas face significant obstacles that prevent their full potential. Lack of resources, patriarchal cultural norms that restrict their participation and domestic responsibilities contribute to a high dropout rate among young girls. This perpetuates a gender gap in secondary education, limiting personal and professional development opportunities
EnsenaPorBolivia has developed a Leadership Program with a gender and leadership approach aimed at girls in rural areas. It is based on placing highly qualified professionals who receive training in constructivist pedagogy, leadership and systemic changes in classrooms with great needs. They not only provide soft skills training to the girls motivating and empowering them but also enrich their educational environment. We support parents and authorities thus contributing to community governance
We believe that systemic transformation begins with changing oneself. Through the training and empowerment of girls and women, the program seeks to improve educational completion rates and open new opportunities for empowered girls. In the long term, we will contribute to the creation of a more equitable and just future, with young women better prepared to face challenges and contribute to the development of their communities and who are able to determine their own destiny.
