Dear Friends and Supporters
Since the bakery opened in July, we have received so many positive comments from the girls, they told us how they are sooo happy with their new bakery project, 75% told us they want to become bakers in the future and personally thanked us.
We are aiming for this project being income generating for the girls, so that by the time they leave at 18 yrs old, they will leave with some money and an income generating gift to help them in their futures ahead. Since the start of this programme, Their Future Today has provided two sewing machines for two girls which has helped change their lives forever.
At our last visit the girls begged us to take a selfie as they love to look at themselves. In fact we’ve never seen a mirror in their surroundings. The institution has now been renamed as a Girls Remand Centre. How on earth can young under age girls who are raped and abused be on remand. Where are their human rights? It’s hard to believe this injustice but sadly it’s true...
Our bakery journey isn't over yet, as although we have water, electricity, supplies and the heavy commercial equipment has been fitted, we still need regular donations to provide the many kilos of sugar, flour, eggs and teaching staff!
Thank you again to all our donors for your continued support in helping us to make this happen.
