Dear supporters,
Hope you are enjoying the warmer weather and all the fun it brings with it. In our latest update, we would like to introduce you to a precious child, Zahid Khan who attends OBAT’s preschool in Khulna.
Zahid lost his father three years ago. Since he was the bread earner for the family, after his passing, Zahid’s mom, Sonia faced immense difficulty in making ends meet. Food and shelter were a priority and hence education for her children had to take the back seat. OBAT’s educational projects offer free tuition- Sonia was able to admit both her children in OBAT’s programs. Zahid’s older sister is in grade III of OBAT’s Khulna School while Zahid just joined the preschool. Life at home continued to be difficult for the family. Zahid’s uncle helped them somewhat with their finances. In spite of the help, many a time, the kids have to go to school on an empty stomach and forgo small pleasures of life such as new clothes on religious festivals of Eid and sometimes more important, doctors’ visits when they are ill. Despite all this, Sonia is undeterred and Zahid and his sister are full of determination to continue to study.
