Welcome to a new school year at Kuska!
Despite the uncertainty, that the pandemic does not have when to end and we are facing a third wave of COVID infections in our community, both the team of teachers and promoters and directors, we are convinced that Kuska cannot stop. We know that a difficult new year is coming, in which the economic situation of our families and allies will be affected by the global situation. However, we trust in the power of small actions and that if we all put a grain of sand, together, we can achieve our objectives and thus give continuity to this project, which in moments of chaos it represents a small oasis of affection, containment, fun and learning for our boys, girls and families.
Little by Little campaign
The year started with a lot of energy and the first GlobalGiving Littl by Little campaign gave us the first push. For one week, all donations up to $50 were multiplied by an additional 50%. It was a successful campaign in which we raised what was necessary to start the year.
Meeting with the families
During the week prior to the start of classes, the KUSKA families came to school with great enthusiasm and willingness to participate in the first job, in which we shared laughter, conversations and work! Despite not having face-to-face classes yet, the school is like a house for us, a space that we share and that we take care of.
The MAGIC box
Immediately after, the preparation of the "magic boxes" began. These include all the materials that the boys and girls will need for the development of the monthly project. This special box is highly anticipated each month by students, as it includes printed guides, art supplies, special messages from their teachers, activity cards, books from our library, and more personalized surprises.
Earth Day
On Earth Day we took the opportunity to listen to our boys and girls about actions that they carry out at home to help our planet. Let´s put our words into actions!
Amazing intercultural experience
In April, thanks to the collaboration of the Markham school in Lima and the NGO Enlaza Caminos, boys and girls from Ollantaytambo and fifth grade students from Markham meet every week and exchange cultures, create unforgettable bonds and have fun learning English. This is being a new experience for our students and with each meeting this new friendship is strengthened. Knowing other cultures in childhood we develop empathy and tolerance!
This just began so stay in touch for more news!
