Dear Friends and Supporters,
Thank you for your continued support of AAT’s mission! We are excited to share some key updates from our “Build a Brighter Future: Education for 50 Lao Girls” project, covering the period from January to April 2025:
1) Jane’s Success Story
As mentioned in our previous report, we supported Jane in pursuing Chinese language proficiency. We are proud to share that she successfully completed her course in April 2025 and has since secured a position as a Chinese–Lao interpreter at a Chinese company.
Here’s what Jane shared with us:
“Thank you very much, AAT, for giving me the opportunity to study, for your advice, ideas, and for always opening doors for me. I never thought I could come this far.”
In addition to her job, Jane continues to support AAT by assisting with Lao–Chinese translations and helping raise awareness on safe migration, the dangers of human trafficking, and the risks associated with marrying and moving abroad without adequate information.
2) Mary’s Academic Progress
Also featured in our last update, Mary is nearing the completion of her second year in the Faculty of Chemistry and will soon be entering her third year at university. We are proud of her steady academic journey.
3) New Educational Support
We have extended our support to three more girls, enabling them to continue their education at the 9th, 10th, and 12th grade levels. In addition to financial assistance, we conduct regular follow-ups to monitor their progress and offer guidance and support as needed.
4) Peer and Community Engagement
AAT volunteers are also playing a crucial role in the success of this project. They actively follow up with their peers to offer basic counseling and help identify and report potential cases of abuse or exploitation. This proactive support has helped prevent forced marriages and sexual exploitation.
Volunteers also led awareness-raising sessions in local communities, educating participants about human trafficking, forced marriage, and safe migration. These sessions provided essential information and helped community members—especially youth—better understand how to protect themselves and others.
Your support continues to make a life-changing impact. Because of you, more Lao girls are not only gaining access to education but are also empowered to protect their rights and shape a safer, brighter future.
With heartfelt thanks,
The AAT Team
