Education for all girls in Benin

In the isolated villages of the Couffo department in southwestern Benin, thousands of children live in extreme poverty due to a lack of access to education. Most rural girls are poor; despite their efforts, their parents cannot afford school supplies, registration fees, and other school-related expenses. This results in short-term school dropouts and persistent poverty. The cycle of poverty is thus perpetuated by the lack of funding for education. Yet, sometimes, very little is needed to bring about decisive change.

Thanks to your generosity, more than 65 schoolchildren have already benefited from our program. But beyond these numbers, lives are transformed, dreams are reborn. Today, we need your help to go further.

Our organization has launched an integrated program in the most disadvantaged rural areas, combining nutrition and education. Our vision is simple yet ambitious: to promote education for all, and especially for girls, a virtuous circle where every child learns and dreams. Already transformative results: 65 orphaned girls are currently receiving school supplies; the quality of teaching and school attendance are improving considerably; girls' enrollment is gradually increasing. What you are offering is not just school supplies. It is a life reborn from despair. It is a little girl who believes in her future. The parents also thanked the NGO ALDF and GlobalGiving for their financial support in purchasing school supplies for these girls. This action will help keep all girls in school, prevent them from dropping out, and ease the burden on parents. An urgent challenge: In rural areas, parents cannot afford school supplies for their children, especially girls, who are the first victims: forced into marriage, exploited, and rendered invisible.
