Blind Education and Rehabilitation Development Organization (BERDO) celebrated 40th World White Cane Safety Day on 15th October, 2015. They participated in a rally organized by the government. Ministry of Social Welfare, Social Service Department, Jatiya Protibandhi Unnayan Foundation and Jatiya Protibandhi Forum jointly brought out a colorful procession with visually impaired people from Sher-e-Bangla Nagar to Social Service Department office. Honorable State Minister of Ministry of Social Welfare of the People Republic of Bangladesh Mr. Promoth Mankin MP led the rally. The rally was succeeded by a discussion meeting and a cultural function. BERDO Executive Director Md. Saidul Huq delivered a speech in the session. After the session, white canes were distributed among 150 people with blindness.
On the next day 16th October, 2015, BERDO organized a discussion meeting at BERDO head office, Mirpur. The children, guardians and other stakeholders were also attended the meeting. Honorable Secretary of Ministry of Social Welfare Mr. Tarik-UL-Islam was Chief Guest while Joint Secretary and Managing Director of Jatyo Protibondhi Foundation was Special Guest. After the session, white canes were distributed among the blind children of BERDO program.
