Ninos de Guatemala supports 3 schools that provide elementary and secondary quality education to children near Antigua Guatemala who cannot otherwise afford education. Our educational program curriculum has adopted a holistic approach that fosters academic, socio-emotional, nutrition, critical thinking and character formation programs. Our students grow and learn in a safe and joyful environment. Your donation goes towards learning materials, textbooks and nutritional foods for each school.
Guatemala's rural and suburban areas continue to experience poverty, illiteracy, and lack of food / water security. Public schools offer a basic curriculum, with unprepared or unmotivated teachers, where families are still expected to pay for uniforms, materials, and daily transportation. One in ten children worldwide still do not go to school. In developing countries, one in six children do not have access to primary education: This includes over 141,000 children in Guatemala.
By strengthening Math, Spanish and English education; by promoting the mental health of students, improving their physical health & nutrition with a daily balanced meal, we will contribute to improve the education in Guatemala. We will also contribute to breaking the cycle of poverty and provide students with better opportunities. An emphasis in learning technology and developing teacher programs will foster the quality of education. Parental involvement will promote long-term changes.
90% of students that start 1st grade at Ninos de Guatemala finish their secondary studies. With properly developed critical thinking, communication and technology skills, they will reach their full potential as productive members of their community with better opportunities, lowering the need for migration. Students will be empowered with heightened social inclusion. Educated girls delay marriage, have fewer children, and make more educated choices, leading to improved maternal and child health.
