Education for Every Girl in India

Education is the right of every child however it is seen that due to many reasons girl child are not able to get education. One of those reasons is the lack of education materials. In this context, RSKS India organized the Education For Every Girl Project. This year through this project, RSKS India was able to reach more than 1200 girl children of more than 85 rural remote villages and then was able to provide them important education stuff and hygiene kit. Also along with this, the RSKS team also spread the awareness about sexual & reproductive health, Hygiene practices, and education through this program. This program had many stories of its own but one of them is of Bindu who is a class teacher of one of the school in which this program was done.

Thoughts of a Teacher....

Hello everyone! My name is Bindu (Name Changed) and I am class teacher of a rural school which is situated in a rural remote village. I got my education from the city and I was transferred to this school after I got selected as a teacher. Since then I came to know about the problems which girls have to face in rural areas. I taught the girl children of my class to always discuss their problems with me so that they would not feel alone and they would come to school regularly but still I saw that many times many girl children from our school used to not come regularly to school due to many reasons and one of the most prominent one was they having lack of education materials.

One day some people came to our school and said that they are from an Non Profit named Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan which is in Ajmer. After this they told us that they would be providing education materials like school bag, geometry box, registers, pen set, drawing books etc and also hygiene kit which would include handkerchief, sanitary napkin, soap, sanitizers etc so they need to know the names of the girl children who are intelligent and is facing problems in having education materials. I was amazed when I heard this as district is more than 80 Km far away from our school, still these people have came to support the girls of our school. Me and my colleagues made the list of the girls & then the RSKS team went door to door of these girls after the school. After some days they came back but this time with a car full of education stuff and hygiene kit. Then they gave all the girl children these education materials as well as hygiene kit while following social distancing and then taught them about sexual & reproductive health, Hygiene practices, and education through a session.

The girl children who were selected under this Education For Every Girl started coming regularly at schools as now they had everything which they required to come to school. These girls got a new wave of happiness on their face as they had new bag, new registers, new geometry box etc. These girls were able to take of their health and hygiene through the hygiene kit provided by RSKS India and then they fell less sick. Also these girls got to know about sexual & reproductive health, Hygiene practices, and education which is very important for them. Me and my school staff thank RSKS India and the donors through which this program was successful.
