In the quiet courtyards of five village schools, where the 'Pathshala: Value Based Education' program plants seeds of change, an extraordinary Dussehra unfolded. This was not a mere performance; it was a powerful reclaiming of narrative. Two hundred adolescent girls, students of the Pathshala, stepped onto a stage of their own making. Shedding their everyday shyness, they adorned the vibrant costumes of the Ramayana. These young women became Ram, Sceptre steady Sita, devoted Lakshman, and the mighty Hanuman. Through their earnest portrayal of the epic, they did not just act out a story; they embodied the very virtues of righteousness, courage, and integrity they are taught, transforming their classrooms into sacred ground where good prepares to conquer evil.
The ritual reached its profound climax with the lighting of the Ravana effigy. But this Ravana bore a new name: "Ahankar" or Ego. As the flames climbed, consuming the symbol of arrogance and vice, the RSKS team guided the reflection. They spoke of the modern Ravanas these girls might face the demons of discrimination, self doubt, and injustice. The burning pyre became a visual promise, a collective vow from 200 determined hearts to burn away internal and external barriers. The lessons of discipline and truth were no longer abstract chapters but a fiery, shared resolve to champion goodness in their own lives and communities.
As the smoke cleared, carrying away the symbolic ashes of negativity, the air itself sweetened with celebration. The triumphant girls, still buzzing with the energy of their performance and the power of their pledge, were greeted with distributions of chocolates, cakes, and sweets. Their laughter rang pure and loud, a joyful sound marking a personal and collective victory. In that moment, the festive treats were more than snacks; they were the taste of empowerment. RSKS, through this deeply emotive event, masterfully wove cultural tradition with value based education, showing that when girls are given the stage, they don't just celebrate a festival they ignite a revolution of hope and character.
