Education prevents re-abuse and restores hope and dignity to survivors of sexual violence. This project will enable 10 girls who are survivors of sexual violence to attend high school for one year in a safe learning environment in Kenya. Freely in Hope provides holistically educational opportunities for our scholars which includes tuition fees, health care, psychological counseling, leadership development, and advocacy platforms.
Sexual violence is a pandemic that must be stopped. In Kenya, 43% of women have been sexually violated. Education plays an important role in preventing sexual abuse and restoring dignity to its survivors. But sadly, girls in Kenya are expected to stay in school only until they are 11 years old.
We are combatting sexual violence by providing academic scholarships to young women who are survivors of or vulnerable to sexual abuse. This project will restore hope and dignity that has been shattered by providing opportunities for girls and women to heal from past trauma and pursue their hopeful future through education.
Education breaks the cycle of violence by providing survivors of sexual abuse with new opportunities and a shift in the lifestyle that made them vulnerable to abuse. It empowers survivors to be bold with their stories to help prevent abuse to other women and girls.
