This project will provide basic literacy, numeracy, tailoring and cookery skills training to empower less privileged people in rural Nyamwamba- Uganda. Many people do not have access to equipped facilities to receive training in valuable trades and skills. These people are often deprived of various learning and income-earning opportunities that could improve their social status and living conditions. The project will help people develop their livelihoods through education and skills education.
The low level of literacy in Nyamwamba division is a serious impediment for the area's development. 57% of the area's populations are illiterate and most of them live in rural areas. The mountainous terrain further compounds the challenge to source learning materials to the most remote areas. This Project will give an opportunity to vulnerable people to go through a 6 months' training on basic literacy, numeracy and 5 months tailoring and cookery skills training.
The people will go through 6 months on basic literacy, numeracy and 5 months-long tailoring and cookery skills training and a week-long financial literacy training.
