Summary

Many rural schools in the poorest communities of Ecuador have one teacher covering two or more grades at the same time. Your donations will go towards providing more local teachers, food programmes and internet. We are also implementing sustainable income plans with the families to help them cover further education costs for their children as well as covering the costs of the schools in the future.

Challenge

Many rural schools have different grades of children being taught by just one teacher, setting work and moving to the next grade. Despite the best efforts of the teacher the children are not receiving a full education and for many, their parents are unable to read or write so cannot help with them homework. The majority of families cannot afford to continue their children's studies in further education due to the transport, materials and monthly costs.

Solution

By increasing the number of local teachers the children can receive more one-to-one attention and actual teaching rather than being set work and left to it. By implementing family income plans there will be extra money available to be able to continue their further education.

Long-Term Impact

As each generation receive a better education with more teachers in the schools, the community will be able to grow economically. With better education hopefully leading to better employment, more money will be available for the families to cover medical costs, extra food and other necessary items. By implementing sustainable income plans the local teachers' salaries will be covered in the future allowing us to help more and more communities with the donations we receive.
