In Dawasamu, Fiji, our collaborative project focuses on quality education, where we assist members of the local community with early childhood development and vocational support whilst offering equal opportunities to women. Our primary goal is to support education efforts through the dissemination of information via workshops and community-based learning, which is an effective learning approach that increases the engagement of participants and the development of new skill sets.
Gender inequality prevents personal and professional development, which prevents the growth of a country as a whole. Gender inequality remains a global issue. In 2020, Fiji ranked 103 out of 153 countries from East Asia and the Pacific in The Global Gender Gap Index. Women and girls in particular have limitations to education, which as a result, affects their employability and the country's economic state.
Our program fosters early childhood development through learn and play sessions with clearly defined milestones that support the upcoming generations' physical and socio-emotional development. Furthermore, the program focuses upon continuous knowledge exchange with the local community and partners to ensure effective and long-term positive change. Our scheme builds capacity with stakeholders on environmental education and teacher training initiatives by offering practical training sessions.
The project works on sustainable positive change through effective and quality education, which prompts behavioural change. The educational sessions cover different learning styles to maximise the learning experience among participants. Additionally, our program offers mentoring opportunities, where members of the community assist and lead key projects on early childhood development. As a result, individuals, communities and the country as a whole benefit sustainably.
