"Breaking Barriers: How Education Transformed Shravan's Life"

Thanks to your generous support, lives are being transformed every day—and Shravan Kumar’s story is a powerful reminder of what your contribution makes possible.

At just six years old, Shravan joined Seva Mandir’s Shiksha Kendra (Bridge School). He was shy and had never been to school before, but he was eager to learn. That first step into a classroom marked the beginning of an incredible journey.

After completing Class 5 at the Shiksha Kendra, Shravan transitioned to a government school, completed Grade 12, and went on to college—becoming the first in his family to do so. Through unwavering determination, he later became a State Police Officer.

Today, all nine of his siblings are either in school or employed, and his father—once a daily wage labourer—now runs the village’s first shop.

It all began with one classroom and a little hope.

That’s the power of education. That’s what Seva Mandir believes in—and what your support makes possible.

Celebrating International Women's Day!

Deepika at Larathi Government School

This International Women's Day, we celebrate Deepika - a remarkable woman who is transforming the lives of children in Larathi, a remote village in southern Rajasthan. Surrounded by dense forests and scattered hamlets, Larathi has long struggled with access to education. Many children walk 6-8 km across hilly terrain to attend school, while others remain out of school due to poverty, migration or lack of awareness. Deepika, a dedicated teacher at the Government Primary School in Larathi, is changing this reality.

Deepika's journey began as a teacher, where she witnessed first-hand the struggles of rural education. Many parents distrusted government schools and opted for private institutions or kept their children at home. Through her innovative teaching methods - game-based learning, interactive activities and real-life applications - she gradually gained their trust. Today, many children who once attended private schools have switched to the government school, attracted by her engaging and effective teaching.

Her influence extends far beyond the classroom. She actively identifies out-of-school children and mobilises them to enrol in school, ensuring that no child is left behind. Her deep connection with the community has made her a respected figure. Beyond education, Deepika is deeply committed to the health and well-being of her students. She raises awareness among parents and children about nutrition, hygiene and healthcare to ensure they grow up in a safe and healthy environment.

Despite societal challenges, Deepika has broken barriers as a leader in her village. She has completed her M.A. and B.Ed., strengthening her ability to teach and mobilise her community. Her tireless efforts have transformed the educational landscape of Larathi.

Deepika's story is one of women's empowerment, resilience and the power of the individual to bring about meaningful change. This International Women's Day, we celebrate Deepika as an inspiration - a testament to the impact one woman can have in shaping the future of an entire village. Her journey is a powerful reminder that when women lead, communities thrive.

This transformation would not be possible without your support, as your generosity empowers women like Deepika to break barriers.
