Advancing Education Through Literacy and School Support
Thanks to your generous support, Ouelessebougou Alliance continues to strengthen education access and quality across rural Mali through our Village Education Projects. In March 2026, our team made meaningful progress in both adult literacy and school support initiatives, helping expand educational opportunity for children and adults alike.

Our adult literacy initiative continues to grow and thrive:
These literacy centers provide adults—primarily women—with the opportunity to gain foundational reading, writing, and numeracy skills that directly improve daily life, household management, and economic opportunity.

School Infrastructure & Educational SupportNew Classrooms Improving Learning Environment
At the inauguration of new classrooms in Djemene, the school principal shared:
“This construction contributes to improving the quality of education in our village. Students and teachers will now work in a safe and adequate environment.”
These classroom investments reduce overcrowding and create safer, more effective learning environments for students and teachers.
Challenges Identified
While the majority of literacy centers are operating successfully, four centers were found to be non-functional after repeated monitoring attempts:
These centers failed to launch classes by the required deadline and will be classified as inactive. This accountability process ensures donor resources are directed toward effective, active programs.
