The global pandemic sure changed the way education is provided around the world. In Guatemala, schools have not opened yet, making the educational process more challenging.
Niños de Guatemala has been working on education through worksheets that are being handed in to our student's parents every 15 days. However we fear that this system will make our older students feel like education is becoming tedious. We know they learned a lot and had fun when classes were face to face, and also, that to most students, being in the IT lab was one of their favorites activities.
Considering these and other points we have decided to start a new project aiming to improve the "Digital Citizenship" section of our S4S program. With this purpose we created a microproject here on GlobalGiving "Digital Literacy for 25 Guatemalan Students", which we promoted during the Little by Little Campaign.
We have raised 607 USD, plus the matching funds of the LxL campaign. This money will serve us to buy tablets that we will give to our older students so they can have a closer experience with technology, something we believe will be useful for them not only during future educational stages but also once they start working as professionals.
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
