Checking Out New Education Choices…
During my recent visit to Kenya, I took the opportunity to visit with Diguna Rainbow Polytechnic School. It is about a 4-hour drive from our office in Oyugis.
Many of our students currently in Secondary School (high school) lack the finances or the grades to continue to a college or university following their graduation from Secondary School.
Rather than leaving our students destined to unemployment, we have decided to look for opportunities to provide them with further training and learned skills to become self-sufficient with either their own business or working for another company.
Courses offered at Diguna include welding, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry…all training that would provide a good income from respectable occupations.
There are also several other Polytechnic schools in Kenya that we are looking at to find the best fit for our students.
Thanks to your donations to Olalo of Hope-Kenya’s Education project, we look forward to sending some of our students to these schools.
It is an exciting new chapter for Olalo, and one we consider a great opportunity to give students the opportunity to thrive and provide for themselves and their families.
At the same time, the Kenyan government is beginning to realize unemployment among the young of Kenya could be lessened by promoting technical training as well. The timing couldn’t be better!
Thank you, for being on board with Olalo and the Kenyan government in making a better future for young people living in Kenya.
Nyasaye Ogwedhu!
