Over the past years, 90+ students have had their education sponsored through Olalo of Hope – Kenya by the generosity of many people who believe in education.
It is said that education is a big step to breaking the cycle of poverty.
We do know that some of our students have gone on to further their education or went directly into the work force. Although that is not the majority.
Most have found themselves unable to attend a college or university either because of their secondary school grades, not having the funds to attend, or are unemployed.
It is reported that today many college grads in Kenya are struggling to find work. Even those with master’s degrees cannot find work.
We are seeing in Kenya and elsewhere, that the need is great for electricians, plumbers, welders, etc.
Most students dream of becoming doctors, lawyers, engineers, or pilots. These professions are out of reach for most. We would like to work with students to tell them about the trade jobs that can be both satisfying and lucrative.
Our hope is to launch a program helping young people attend a polytechnic school to learn a trade that will support themselves and their families.
We still have students sponsored in Secondary School, and we will continue to support them until they graduate and receive their Certificate.
We are so Thankful for every one of you who have supported the education of these kids in Oyugis, Kenya.
Without support, they would not have attended school beyond the 8th grade.
My thanks go to you. Know that your support has impacted and changed their lives!
