Helping Dreams Come True through Education...

- The statistics say that less than half of all the children in Kenya receive an education beyond the 8th grade. Eighth grade. Done. No more school. Education ends. And the reason? Poverty. With most families trying to survive on $1 a day, education becomes only a dream of a better life, one that is far out of reach.
Think about where would you be today with only an 8th grade education. Have the job you have now? Drive the same car or live where you do?
Most likely not, but THANKS to Your support over these past few months, two more kids have been given the opportunity to make a step out of poverty through the gift of education and not have to answer those same questions!
Let me introduce you to Douglas and Sharon.
Douglas is 20 years old and one of 12 children. Through his first three years of Secondary School he worked hard finding small contracting jobs to pay his own way through school, but by his fourth and final year, he just couldn’t make enough to complete his Secondary School education. Your donations put him back in school and got him a step closer to becoming an auditor to provide for his family.
Sharon is just 16 years old. She is an orphan and lives with her sister who has three children of her own she works to provide with food. As an orphan Sharon was permitted to attend school until her fees began to accumulate and she was forced to leave school and sent home. Thanks to your donations Olalo of Hope-Kenya was able to pay the fees to get her back in school and on the road to becoming the doctor she dreams to be.
A study done by Boaz O. Munga of the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis found:
• Attainment of only primary education is associated with the likelihood of being poor. Specifically:
Secondary education, technical training, and university education reduce the probability of a household member being extremely poor relative to attaining only primary education
Individuals with only primary education are more likely to be moderately poor than those with university education
Numerous studies have supported the fact that education is one of the key factors to ending the cycle of poverty in one’s life. Your continued and generous support for the education of children in Oyugis, Kenya is helping to replace the cycle of poverty with a new life cycle of hope and helping the dreams of a future Auditor and Doctor come true!
With much gratitude on behalf of Douglas and Sharon…Thank you!

A Future and a Hope...Because of You!

A Future and a Hope…Because of YOU!
Did you know you are making the dreams of an impoverished child come true?
You are!
Did you know you are giving the opportunity to a child to exit from a life steeped in the Cycle of Poverty and enter into a new life cycle…a Cycle of Hope?
You are!
I cannot thank you enough and neither can Laurine and Leah! Your support helped Olalo of Hope-Kenya to get these girls back into school and onto the path of a better life through this opportunity of education.
Laurine is 15 and lived with both grandparents until her grandfather died last year in an accident. Grandfather had provided the funds needed to attend Secondary School (high school) and with his passing there were no funds to allow her to continue with her education. Her dream of becoming a doctor to help the needy was fading, but now that dream is looking brighter these days thanks to your support.
Leah is also 15. She has no father and stays with a relative. She wanted to continue her education with thoughts of becoming a nurse but had no resources. Leah heard that several kids from a local soccer academy had education sponsors through Olalo of Hope-Kenya and so she started attending the academy to see if she too could have a sponsor to help with her tuition costs.
These may be only two of the many kids who are waiting to see if they also can be given the opportunity of education, but they are two who are moving one step closer to their dreams and another step out of poverty.
Did you know this is because of you? IT IS!
Thank you for partnering with Olalo to give a future and a hope to these young girls
Laurine and Leah…on the path to a better life because of your generous support! Thank you!
Merry
