The project will support 120 underprivileged children's education in India to provide an educational bridge, through Remedial Classes (Extra-academic support) and life skills training for one year, or as a support for school age children to enter mainstream schools and minimize school drop outs. This project will select 120 underprivileged children and provide them Remedial classes and life skills.
India's poor communities need alternative options for education. State schools lack basic resources. Poor families have little motivation or financial resources to educate their kids. Girls are especially vulnerable. Dropping out due to family pressures they remain illiterate. The situation is made worse by traditional conservative attitudes, that girls' education is a waste. Yet educating & empowering girls helps reduce household poverty, strengthens society & reduces conflict.
This project will select 100 underprivileged children and provide them Remedial classes and life skills. The Centre will provide non-formal education to those unable to access mainstream education and help to cope up with the school syllabus thus to reduce school dropout. Activities will include five days extra academic support classes, providing lessons on family nutrition, basic health checks & uniforms, education kits and workshops on importance of education for the overall development.
The project will give deprived children the educational skills & personal confidence to find decent work & lead purposeful lives. 100 children will receive education & life skills training and these children will finally enrolled in the formal schools and perform well. We will monitor the children & see how education enables them to provide for their families, contribute to poverty reduction & community well-being. Sustainability will be ensured by gradual up-scaling.
