Nour is the youngest child in a family of five. She has an older sister and an older brother. Nour has a "Special Requirements Report” for her special condition. She has a severe walking disability and has difficulty speaking. However, she and her family could not benefit from special education services.
During this process, Nour and her family applied to the Association for Social Development and Aid Mobilization (ASAM). Thanks to this application and with the ASAM's support, a special training appointment was made for Nour. Additionally, Nour continues to contribute to her social development by participating in extracurricular activities in the special playrooms offered by the ASAM.
Nour and Her Family's Changing Life with ASAM
The family realized that they were neglecting the education of their other children by focusing on Nour's needs. For this reason, the family requested educational support from the ASAM for their other children. Nour's older sister Suna and her other brother started attending Turkish courses held at the ASAM office. Suna can now speak Turkish quite well. On the other hand, her mother says that her Turkish has improved thanks to Suna.
The family states that they are very pleased with the activities offered by the ASAM. “This place has become a training center for us,” her mother says. The mother emphasizes how important a role ASAM plays for families by saying that her children are happy and making progress.
